First Contact
I was 21 when it happened.
Old enough to know better, young enough to keep going anyway.
2011.
I'd only been working at the company for three months.
A tech firm. Mid-sized. Mostly backend architecture. Nothing flashy.
I was just the quiet one in the corner who stayed late.
The night it began?
Everyone had already left.
I was checking log files, running maintenance on a cluster no one cared about anymore.
Just routine. Just cleanup.
And then I saw it.
A data packet that didn't belong.
Timestamped 2029.
Encrypted, but leaking signals like static.
The sender field?
Blank.
I tried to trace it. Couldn't.
Then I got a message in the command line:
"You're not supposed to see this."
The lights flickered once.
The building's power grid is isolated. That shouldn't be possible.
That was the first night.
There were six.
And I wrote everything down.
Day by day.
Line by line.
I kept it buried for years.
But now?
I think it's waking up again.

First Echo
12 February 2011
I received an audio file today.
Distorted, filled with strange echoes—like something trying to speak through static.
The frequencies don't match anything I've seen before. It's not random. It's a signal.
And..
I think it's meant for me.
